Former All-American, L.A. Kings Goalie Jon Quick Named To U.S. Olympic Training Team
Former All-American and current L.A. Kings goalie Jon Quick has been named to the U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Training Camp as announced by U.S.A. Hockey on Tuesday, June 30. Quick is one of three goalies invited to the Olympic Orientation Camp. In total, 34 players were named to the training roster.
Quick now has the chance to become the first Minuteman since Thomas Pock to play in the Olympic Games. Pock represented Austria in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
This past season with the Kings, Quick had a breakout year in the NHL. He saw action in 44 games playing nearly 2,500 minutes with a 2.48 goals against average and a .914 save percentage – all team best totals as he posted a 21-18 record. He also posted four shutouts and was named the NHL’s First Start of the Week (ending Feb.
after posting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.67 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout in three games. He was also named the NHL Third Star of the Week (ending Dec. 28) after posting a 2-1-0 record with a 0.67 goals-against-average, .958 save percentage and two shutouts in three games.
